On Sunday I completed Hotel Dusk: Room 215 on the DS. It is a deeply flawed game that still managed to captivate me. It had the promise of being a fantastic game but did not deliver. Its strengths which were the characters, writing and plot proved to be its greatest flaw.
Handhelds
The DSi, Aaaii!
The new DS, the 3rd generation, has just been released. Nintendo didn't officially announce what the DS stands for. Some claim it stands for Dual Screen while others Developers' System. I couldn't care less.
A night in with Pic Pic

Evening plan.
Lie on couch with a cup of traditional afternoon tea (blimey), with my DS and play Pic Pic.
21:25 - Just placed the hot cup of tea on a white mat from Mykonos.
21:26 - Inserted Demon Days by Gorillaz into the cd player. Volume at -60db.
21:31 - I switch on the DS and choose the Drawing puzzles. Previously left off at drawing puzzle no. 19 (out of a total of 400). Kids for Guns (track 3) now playing.
Advanced Wars of Stupidity
For the past couple of weeks i have been playing Advance Wars: Dark Conflict on the DS. Despite a few niggles, like the never ending dialogues, i have been enjoying the game. Until last night. I was playing a mission which did not seem to end. I had the upper hand but the enemy kept churning out units from its factories. I was slowly taking its cities and thus resources to limit this building of units but it was taking too long. My DS power light even started blinking red, as in "just finish the goddamn mission" (or maybe that the battery was about to die on me).
Slightly Embarrassing

Like most Londoners who don't have their own helicopter and pilot to fly them to the office every morning I am forced to use the wonder that is London's Public Transport to make my way into my underpaid job.
Stepping onto a bus or train is like stepping into a parallel universe where common courtesy is thrown out of the window, where the use of deodorant is forbidden and where hiding behind a newspaper to ignore the beggars and pregnant passengers looking to take your money or God forbid your seat is common place.
Geometry Wars: Galaxies (a.k.a Thumb Wars)

A few years ago Bizarre Creations released Project Gotham Racing 2 for the original Xbox. In a move of shear and utter brilliance they included a free little gem of a mini game by the name of Geometry Wars. It went on to become the best selling piece of content on Xbox Live Arcade for quite some time following its released as a stand alone product.
