The Totally Rad Show

Some of you may remember me mentioning The Totally Rad Show / Dudes in some of my previous blog posts. I am sure though that most of you will be completely oblivious as to what I was referring to. No, it is not the usually suspects of friends that gather at Phylaktis pad and hurl abuse at each other about the most mundane of things, although they too are Rad but in their own "special" way.

I am actually talking about the rad trio of Dan Trachtenberg, Jeff Cannata and Alex Albrecht. The three meet weekly and share their views with us on films, games, TV and comics via a free video podcast. The show was brought to my attention by buddy Costas and ever since I have spent may a happy hour laughing and finding out about some of the best gems in the world of entertainment.

The three guys compliment one another as they each have different tastes which means that when you combine all their opinions you should know where you stand. I know that most of you will want to know who the hell these people are as you probably will not care what the opinions of three random people are before you see for yourself just how good these guys are. So here is a quick biography.

Dan works on commercials and has also developed with Touchstone, Disney and 20th Century Fox so he specialises in films, and some hilarious slips of the tongue.

Jeff is the most articulate of the bunch and has written game reviews for newspapers in the past. He also has a degree in theatre and has appeared on soaps such as Bold and The Beautiful, General Hospital and Knickelodeon as well as in adverts for Apple's iPhone, Coors Light and Disney. He also performs live comedy.

Alex founded the improv comedy troupe, The Misfit Toys which featured in Stuff Magazine and MTV. He has appeared in adverts for Volkswagen, Dominos and Dell. He is also half of one of the most successful internet partnership with Kevin Rose (founder of Digg.com). Together they host the weekly podcast Diggnation, also super highly recommended, which consistently ranks as one of the most downloaded podcasts available on the Apple iTunes Music Store.

The number of times I have cracked up amidst the morbid silence of a rush hour train are too many to count. When I can feel that a laughing fit is imminent I have tried pausing, lowering the volume or simply switching off my ipod but they were all to no avail.

The reason I have decided to dedicate a blog post to the show now is because they have just completed their 52nd episode and are therefore celebrating their first year of being. To celebrate the occasion they decided, a few shows back, to let the fans vote for their favourite moments over the year and this is the show that reveals the winning clips. It is a great chance for anyone interested in checking out one of the best video podcasts to do so by subscribing, free, via itunes or direct from their website http://revision3.com/trs/.

For anyone that does check them out please let me know what you think.

Re: The Totally Rad Show

I had no idea about the guys background before I wrote this piece and if anything I am even more interested in what they have to say now.

Did you see the latest one where they talk about The Wire and The Shield? Spooky as we had a similar conversation just the other day about the two TV shows!

I am finishing the first season of The Shield today or tomorrow and then I will be renting the second season from Blockbusters for £5 this weekend.
