It's OUT!!! It's being downloaded as i type this.
Gonna give credit to Microsoft for their Marketplace dynamic interface:
Bought MS points online, received the code within minutes, redeemed them online on xbox.com, bought the game from the xbox.com Marketplace, and called home asking the console to be switched on for 1 minute.

For me i think it is as legendary and macnificent as the Super Metroid. It is definately better than Metroid Fusion and Metroid Zero Mission.
Why?
It is a clone of Super Metroid: The map layout and presentation, the power ups, going back and forth to get to new locations and power-ups after receiving certain power-up, red doors need missiles, save rooms, map rooms, flash light is like the x-ray visor, each energy tank is 100HP, chivos for 100% completion and less than 13% completion, etc...
While playing the game, i was overwelmed by the nostalgia of the original. I'm 4 hours in the game.
Super Metroid beats it in terms of richer roster of variable enemies, Samus Aran being able to turn into a ball (you can crouch walk and lay a crenade at your feet), better music score, the feeling of isolation on a remote hostile planet.
Both games excel in level design, production values, great big boss fights, volume of reward for exploration and power-ups.
Shadow complex puts the Unreal Engine 3 to good use and improves in many areas over Super Metroid. Beautiful graphics, detailed backgrounds, variable locations, RPG elements like the experience points, a score, attributes one gains by leveling-up, up close melee animations, some stealth, EXP multipliers for quick succession melee, enviromental or explosive kills and some other things a witnessed during gameplay that are new ideas enpowered by better graphics, by the fact that it's a 2.5D shooter and by unique elements or gear.
Controls are OK. Shooting enemies in the background is easier than you think thanks to the aim-assist.
At times i think it's a Super Metal Gear Metroid Solid 2 HD especially when i stealthly melee kill an enemy in a hangar looking area....

Gave the 21 challenges in the Proving Grounds a go. They remind me of VR missions of MGS.
Some were really hard and only got Bronze medal. This game has a lot of competitive potential with its Leaderboards and countless of DLC Challenge packs that may be heading our way.

Finished it in 6 hours on normal, got 69% of items and reached EXP level 18.
I'm going back now to find the rest of the items. I hope i still have access to all the rooms. Finding items is as enjoyable as it was in Super Metroid. Some require skill while others finding the way to reach it although you see them. In total there are about 115.
It's shame there is only 1 save file.
After finishing both games i have to say that SM beats SC to the top place by being THE Super Metroid, it's legendary status and heritage, the fact that it belongs to the more "romantic" video-games era, has a more intrigue story and atmosphere.
Shadow Complex forementioned improvements over SM and it's new, unique additions are not enough to beat SM.

Reminds me of an old megadrive game which for the life of me I can't remember. Something about the climbing and jumping which joggs my memory. I will consult the web for help with this. Love the weapons, design and sheer enjoyment factor. Think this might be my first 10/10 for a download.

Flashback was one of Mega Drive best games. It would make a great XBLA remake.
Today it's a nice day to get the Mega Drive out and play Flashback.
I looked on ebay and found some complete, boxed, fine examples of Mega Drive consoles for as little as 20GBP and complete, boxed Flashback game examples cost no more than 6GBP.
Finally played the game. Not that impressed tbh. Quite polished and refined but gameplay wise i got kind of bored towards the end. But i have to admit they implemented the backtracking process superbly.

I'm not sure but it's a MUST-HAVE purchase.
I've recently played Super Metroid and i'm hungry for more of the same formula.
