Join 2 Die...
…that’s the ideal title for Valve’s new Left 4 Dead Survival Mode DLC which went live on Tuesday, 21st of April for free. It adds a new survival mode and also unlocks the remaining maps, Dead Air and Death Toll, for Versus play. The size of the DLC is around 110MB.
Here is a diagram from Valve illustrating the spawn points for the Special Infected, Horde and Tanks in the new game mode, which it says will be rewarding for new players and tough for veterans.

The diagram looks scary since 3 minutes in the mode, special infected spawn every 2 seconds and at the 15-minute point, Tanks will constantly spawn. It’s a nightmare.
Don’t worry about the constant spawning of Tanks since you won’t manage to survive that long. I lasted 4 minutes while the devs record is 9 minutes. It’s like the last scene of every campaign where you have to survive for 5 minutes until the rescue vehicle comes, only this time it’s waaayyy harder and there’s no rescue vehicle. The fact that ammo supplies are kept in hard to defend places and this requires being always on the move while trying to maintain the integrity of the team, makes it even harder.
This is by far the funniest and most entertaining mode but also the most irritating. If you try to beat the record as a team, it's gonna age you and stress you a lot. If you try to survive the longest as an individual, it’s one hell of a joyride. The plan is to plan ahead but the frequency and force of the attacks make fun of your plans. I started planning for the next 5 minutes. 1 minute in the game I switched to a 1-minute plan and 3 minutes in the game there wasn’t any plan since my mind was occupied making decisions about surviving for as many milliseconds as possible. The chaotic situation caused laughter that hindered my aiming and a spine-wrecking punch of the Tank that wouldn’t just f@*king die ended my glorious 4-minute living spree.
Can’t wait to try it out with people on my Friends List.
