Gamers Rejoice!!!

Video games are in my blood. Not a moment passes by that I do not play, think of or read about video games. I’ll be playing video games for as long as I physically CAN. I HAVE to play a video game every day. I do not have to sleep but I HAVE to play a video game. It’s that integral and vital to me.

Imagine my frustration when 15 years ago I fractured my right hand’s thumb during a b-ball game. I knew it was broken, yet I went home to continue playing Zelda: A Link to the Past. The pain was unbearable but the thought of not being able to play was even more unbearable, hence I did not want to go to the doctor. I ended up going to the doctor and begging him to take care of my thumb in the best way to make it video-game-playing friendly. It was obvious that I had to abandon Zelda and my highly cherished catalogue of home consoles games only to follow my one alternative route: make ends meet in the poor and aged local arcades while still lacking the perfect physique…I was still very competitve on NBA JAM though.

Had this accident occurred yesterday, it wouldn’t have been a problem thanks to recent years’ technological advancements and innovations in the video game industry. Nowadays many games (half of Wii catalogue) can be played using 1 hand. XBLA game Tottemball can be played using a broomstick horizontally strapped on your shoulders. Some of Eye Toy mini-games just require a leg, 2 legs or just a body. For God’s sake, Scene It? can be played by just using one’s nose as a thumb. Let’s not forget Wii Fit, Singstar, Lips and Mario Dancing Stage Mega Mix. I could go on and on………my point is:

GAMERS REJOICE!!! No matter what happens, we have a broad array of games to play and enjoy.

Thinking about it, puts a smile on my face since my “CAN” has been both increased in variety and prolonged to the very last breath of mine.

Aaaaaa the things we do to game ... good times people, good times.

Re: Gamers Rejoice!!!

When i am really hooked on a game it seems every event in my life revolves around it and how it affects it.

For example an invitation to watch football at a friend's house means that immediately i have to think of how i will squeeze in the necessary hours from something else in order to make up for the lost time.

I have even taken annual leave just so that i can stay home and play a specific game. When i was young i had the time but not the quantity of games that i have today. Now it's the other way around. I am not sure which one is worse.
