Alan Wait (should that be Wake?)
It arrived. Collector’s edition, Limited. Currently reading the Clay Steward files with soundtrack playing in the background, one for the car me thinks. 5o pages in and the story’s got me, although, it’s hard to keep concentrating with the game disc and bonus disc waiting in the box. Still, having already waited years for the game, an hour or so of atmospheric tunes and background story aren’t much of a further hardship. Gotta love that artwork, some of the manuscript pages look a little slapdash but the overall aesthetic appeal of the package and contents are pleasing enough.
File update closed... it’s getting dark, where’s that flashlight?

So? How is this coming along?
Re: Alan Wait (should that be Wake?)
Controls a little fiddly, but I'm getting there. Feels like a bit of a L4D clone in places, but, my lack of experience of this type of game makes most of it feel quite fresh and exciting. Having said that, I'm not overly impressed with the level/checkpoint restart. Come up against a challenge and you seem to either complete it first time which totally rocks, or you die and then respawn with less enemies, easier enemies and, bizzarely, a new supply of ammo. This has happened to me twice and makes it feel like i've taken a free pass through levels that I would have happily replayed. Maybe it will change as I get further in. Love the immersive storyline though. Only 1 major complaint so far, the quality of the character animation doesn't always match the excellent scenery and soundtrack.
Re: Alan Wait (should that be Wake?)
1. L4D clone? I would have thought it was more thriller than action.
2. If that is how the game responds to a player not getting through a stage first time then it's absolutely shite. Takes all the joy from overcoming a challenge. It should have been optional to switch to an easier mode. Key word here is "optional". This one really intrigues me to check it out.
