Sub-Standard Science

Given the revelations of certain recent military events in the Atlantic this week, Monty wept for the end of the enlightenment, the death of progress and its stark implications for Military-themed gaming in the future.  It seems that the top minds of our generation have unintentionally colluded in designing a frightening stalemate in the world of underwater warfare. A state of the art French Nuclear Submarine proved itself so good at avoiding enemy radar that a British Sub, travelling in the opposite direction, was unable to spot it coming. But just before Frenchie could  start opening the brandy and acting like the playground bully, their own radar screens failed to detect anything coming the other way either. The result was an almighty crash and at least 6 points on 2 driving licences one would assume.

What terror. What an absolute disaster for the modern age. We’ve become so stealthy and so good at hiding from the enemy that our top of the range supersonic jets, formula one styled tanks and lightning speed warships can now only travel safely at a speed of approximately 3km per hour, or with a man sitting on their nose cones waving a giant red flag!

The situation is made worse by the wonderful GPS navigation of these marvels of modern military power. Directed as they are by the growing number of collision prone satellites spinning precariously above earth (Yes, in the same week, a Russian and US satellite both failed to put the brakes on in time).
Such events, Monty fears, will lead to a frightening state of affairs for gamers wishing to explore the world’s latest military hardware in the virtual sphere. What will be the point of calling in a UAV if all you pick up is any military equipment made before 2009? Suddenly Call of Duty 10 seems less worth the wait (one assumes they’ll just revisit World War 2, again!)
Perhaps of more concern, to those who remember pointless hours of guesswork gaming in the pre-console era, all future warfare in a world without any form of reliable radar or navigation will resemble nothing more than a good old game of Battleships.  Monty wonders how the boys at Infintyward and Activision are gonna keep repackaging that one year after year?

Re: Sub-Standard Science

I trust Infinityward and Treyarch will manage the keep the interest high of the franchise for years to come one way or another. As you said, there's always Battleships...

Always refreshing to read the inner thoughts of Monty's warped thinking ... well linked.
