Walking the line

Firstly, let me take a few lines to welcome myself back.

That's back from the dead, back to living in Cyprus, back to work, back to jogging, back to being around friends, back to going out, back to studying, back to excessive drinking (although that never really stopped).

It has been an insane couple of months for me as I have, after a ten year wait, returned back to suckle on the sweet teat of the Motherland once more.

Sadly however, since boarding Cyprus Airways Flight CY332 at Heathrow's Terminal One, on that memorable day of June 26th 2008, it seems that apart from leaving England behind I also abandoned my alter ego, my split personally and my closest friend during those outcast years in London. I am referring to MIOU (my gamertag and online persona). As the one thing that I have not managed to get back into is, gaming.

It's not like I don't have any free time any more, it's just that I have so many things competing for it. I am not complaining (much), after all that is the reason I wanted to move back to Cyprus. It's all about the "quality of life" they say but that does not mean I have to be happy about my severely reduced gaming time.

Back in London I would game, on average, around 3 hours a day and there were times what my 360 would be switched on at some point each day for over 60 consecutive days. Looking back it was "frightening" just how much time I pumped into my passion for games (sounds a bit more dirty than it actually was).

With this years FIFA already purchased and Pro Evo just around the corner, this would be the ideal time for any sleeping gaming giant to awaken from their slumber.

Life is comparable to a game in many ways and I once again find myself drawing upon the teachings from my, previously mentioned, “dirty” habit. It’s all about experiencing a new environment and then reiterating upon your choices until you are comfortable with those surroundings. The ultimate goal is to become confident in your actions and to enjoy yourself within the rules presented to you.

Now all that remains for me is to learn to walk the line and delicately balance all the new things that are on offer to me.
