My game of the year 2008
Another good year for games has come to an end. Some people would say that this one was even better than the last, but i am not one of them. Still, in a year that saw the release of GTA IV, LittleBigPlanet, Fallout 3, Metal Gear Solid 4, Left 4 Dead, Fable II, Far Cry 2, Lost Odyssey, Valkyria Chronicles and so many, many more excellent games how can one complain.
Yet, my game of the year is not among the afforementioned. My personal choice Game of the Year 2008 is Braid on XBLA, one of the best puzzle/platform games i have ever played. A game that had caused me to curse so much and yet was so satisfying to play. I enjoyed every minute of it.
It's ironic that almost a year ago i blogged about how XBLA, WiiWare and PSN were irrelevant to my gaming. That was a major error of judgement and i am glad i was proven wrong. Downloadable games from these services have provided me with some of the most memorable gaming experiences in 2008. Geometry Wars Retro Evolved 2 would probably feature in my 2008 top 5 list, if i had one, and Lost Winds together with Wold of Goo on WiiWare are two more must play games.
There are more to come, i am sure of it. Now i have no more doubts.

LOL as strange as it sounds from me...YES...much better...they made GoW2 like is the worst game of the world

What is so good about the new COD re, it looks worse and the only addition is a nice flamethrower and the ability to shoot dogs.

COD:WAW Multiplayer rules!!!! It's pace and similarity to real warfare tactics, weapons and uniforms is unmatched. Human beings without supernatural abilities (10 feet jump - Halo3) and without gismos and shields (armour shield - Halo3) fight human beings (no Locust, no Covenant) and shoot at them after they raised their weapons high and aimed down the sights (not hip firing or running with your gun held up high all the time - Halo3). For Christ's sake, one can not even lie down in Halo3 and GOW. Don't get me wrong lads, GOW2 and Halo3 are great games but i prefer the real deal = COD franchise.
Real Tactical shoot-them-ups (Ghost Recon, Rainbow 6: Vegas and Battlefield) are also considered by me better than Halo3 and GOW for the same reasons.
It's shame that the majority of Cypriot gamers own only and play all the time Halo3. That's the only reason that makes me play Halo3.

It's a matter of taste. I love more modern warfare weapons but i like more the maps of WAW. The gameplay remains the same with minor changes.
